Stained-Glass Sugar Cookies
 
1 – 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
 
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
In a new bowl mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture. Blend well.
Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400
Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into shapes with a cookie cutter, then cut another shaper inside the first shape.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on a cookie sheets covered with parchment paper. (wax paper will work)
Place some lifesavers into a sandwich bag and crush the with a hammer. (you do not need to hit these hard)


Take the pieces of lifesavers and fill the holes in the cookies.

Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely
